So, what's Decanter Banter all about? Well it's pretty simple, Decanter Banter is about the people, places, activities and fun of wine. We have been around the wine industry for a long time. Ken has been on the board of directors for the Auction of Washington Wines for over two decades, and we own a company that specializes in the wine industry, and we love wine. But more than that we love the wine culture! The people, personalities, events, and activities of wine.
Wine culture is fun, not stuffy!
One thing you notice a lot when you talk to people about wine is that many of them are intimidated by wine. Imagine, intimidated by a beverage! Can you even fathom the thought of someone being uneasy about ordering a beer with dinner because they are unsure of the proper opening, sniffing, tasting and approval procedure?
One of the things we like most is the vibrant, fun, social side of wine. We noticed that there are a lot of people sniffing, tasting, and rating wine, but few are talking about how much fun it can be to be sitting on a winemaker's lawn, enjoying the the fruits of their labor and listening to some great jazz. About spending a day riding your bike through wine country talking to winemakers and "cellar rats" about their passion for what they do. We are not discounting the importance of making a quality wine, or the sheer satisfaction of savoring a glass of it. But there are plenty of people talking about that. We think wine should be, and is more fun. To paraphrase Gary Vaynerchuck of Wine Library TV - one of the "wine tasters" that we really like, and admire - "It will be a great day when we see wine being poured at a football tailgate party!"

We hope that you will be checking out a video, blog post, or a photo or on this site and will say "Now THAT looks like fun, I want to do that." And then you'll go out and do it!
This site is about enjoying wine and all that goes with it... Oh, and no stuffed shirts allowed.
